NAGAUR


Nagaur, a desert town, is located in the Jodhpur division of the state of Rajasthan. Previously known as Ahichhatrapur, Nagaur holds prominence for formerly being a hotly contested seat of power between the sultans of Delhi, Gujrat and Marwar. Later on, Nagaur came under the Mughals and developed into a Sarkar (division) under the Ajmer Subah province. After some time, the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan handed the rule of the city to Amar Singh Rathore who belonged to the royal family of Marwar.
