NAGALAND
The state of Nagaland is fraught with many sites representing its rich history and cultural background. A tour to the city takes you cemetery commemorating the World War 2, Cathedral of Reconciliation, museums, zoo and parks all located in the capital Kohima. Not only that Kohima has also tribal village famous for their respective charms as Khonoma and Dzulekie both are famous for waterfalls.
The state is located at the north-eastern side of India and bordered with states like Assam (west-north), Myanmar (East), Arunachal Pradesh (North) and Manipur (South). History
The real historical detail of the state like many other tribal state of north eastern India is blanketed under mystery. The general assumption is that a tribal caste ofThe history of the state is quite under mystery due to lack of proof. However it is said that the state underwent British rule in around 1890s. Despite, India got freedom in 1947, the Naga land remained unquiet which were expanded from Assam to the north eastern frontier agency. Their agitation continued and in 1957, the Indian government sanctioned single Naga Admin Unit under the rule of India.
Again the Naga people showed their wrath by deciding not to pay taxes to Indian government. They also took resort to sabotage of government property finally forcing the government to sanction a separate state under Indian rule. Though, they are now a separate state but still they demand autonomy of the state without any government interference.
Culture of Nagaland
Nagas, the people of Nagaland are supposed to be the descendent of Indo-Mongoloid race that existed since ten century ago. There is combination of more than twenty tribes of Nagas, each representing a particular topographical aspect. Further, the tribes share great cultural traits and have not left their attempt to remained isolated from constructing unity as a single person. You will find the Nagas quite cordial and amiable with features like high cheek bones, shining denture, almond eyes and bronzed skin. Their overall attire resembles that of sadhus. Their traditional art is weaving that was gifted them from generation to generation.

The Tribes
The state of Nagaland attracts tourists due to their festivals and folklores. They always carry spears and headgears creating somewhat awe-inspiring look. There are quite numbers of tribes living in the state all represent cultural aspect of the state through their respective traditions, attires and cultural heritage.
Kohima Village
Kohima the capital city of Nagaland is a home to a village of Nagas. There is a ceremonial gateway in a village built by typical tribal handicrafts. It is also beautified by adding motifs of weapons and symbols of folk songs marking auspicious sign.
World War II Cemetery
When the Japanese troops entered Kohima then the combined troop of Indians and British were sent to check on them. This had ensued a war between the joint force and Japanese troops. The war resulted many tolls who were buried here in the cemetery.
Japfu Peak
This is the second highest peak in Nagaland. Further, the site is home to the tallest Rhododendron with over 130 ft. of height and the breadth at the foot of around 11 ft. it is placed in the Guinness Book of World Records. You can savour the breathtaking view of Himalayan peaks from here.
