MOUNT ABU
Mount Abu is famous for being one of the most renowned Jain pilgrimage sites. This beautiful hill station of Rajasthan is totally different from the rest of tourists’ sites present in Rajasthan. This “Home to Paradise” place offers the tourists more scenically beautiful landscape, architectural and archaeologically famous Dilwara caves, Brahmakumaris and plenty of temples; all showing that the place is gifted with all natural traits.
Resting in the foothills of Aravali, the Mount Abu is shrouded with dense forests, waterfalls, ravines and massive rock formations in odd shapes. This place has pleasant climate in all years and thus had been one of the favourite summer resorts of the British. Located at an altitude of 1220 mitres from the sea level, Mount Abu is surrounded with a lake is also the site of sacred Dilwara Jain temple. Mount Abu being the only hill station of Rajasthan, attracts lots of tourists owing ot scenic locales and relaxed lifestyle.
Climate
In summer you will experience 33.8C (Max)-23.3C (Min) & in winter it is around 20.3C (Max)-0C (Min). The place also experiences rainy season from July to mid September.
Tourists Attractions
Dilwara Jain Temple
The Dilwara Jain temple beautified by sheer elegance and marble cast structures somewhat a mirror image of the Taj Mahal. The temple was built between the 11th and 13th century. The construction of the temple consumed considerable amount of workmen and craftsmen to ensure the finest quality of the sculpture. Each part of the temple is decorated with intricate carvings and dedicated to the Jain Tirthankar. The construction cost expensive on the carvings, architecture and decoration of the temples. Further, the labour were also rewarded in silver and gold equal to the quantity of marbles brought in by them.
Vimal Vasahi Temple
This is one of the oldest temples of Jain temples and is also known to be the first temple. The temple is dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankar. Founded by Bhim Deva in 1031, the temple is built in pristine marble with pure outer. However, the inside part of the temple is prettily sculptured and one of the finest examples of artistry works of those times.
A tour to Mount Abu seems incomplete without visiting goddess Arbuda Devi and taking her blessing. The access to the goddess Arbuda Devi is hindered due to series of caves on a way to the top mountain where the deity resides.
Guru Shikhar
This beautiful and highest peak of Mount Abu is famous for the quietness about the temple rested atop this peak. Inside the temple there is shrine of Datta-traya, an incarnation of lord Vishnu. The tourist will also see the brace bell outside the temple.
In addition to above mentioned temples, the other tourists’ attraction is Brahmakhadd temple, dedicated to lord Shiva. Interestingly, you won’t find the traditional lingam of lord Shiva here in the temple. Instead, there is a pit about which lord Shiva is said to have put his foot into. According to the folklore, the pit goes deeper into the bottom of the earth until it touches the water level. You will see goddess statue of goddess Parvati and Nandi positioned outside the temple.

The nearest railway station is 27 km away from Mount Abu.
By Road
Mount Abu can be accessed by the road linked with Udaipur and Ahmadabad.
