MIZORAM


The state of Mizoram is located in the north-eastern side of India and is bordered with Bangladesh from the west and Myanmar from east. The state is historically decked with informative inputs able enough to quench the curiosity of any visitor seeking information about the land. The state is geographically stretched between the latitudinal parallel of 21°58' and 24°35' from the North.

As being one of the members of the seven sisters of India, Mizoram is also bordered with some states like Manipur, Tripura and Assam. The connectivity to the state can be maintained through roadways, airways and by train without any hassle.

Historical detail of the State


The real historical detail of the state like many other tribal state of north eastern India is blanketed under mystery. The general assumption is that a tribal caste of Mongoloid migrated here from China and settled down in Mizoram. Historical belief is that Mongolian race has direct impact on Mizoram. The 18th and 19th Century history of Mizoram experienced several tribal raids for the purpose of establishing their own security base. It was the time of 1895 when the Mizo Hills were officially declared as a part of the British-India. After three years later, other hills from north and south became a part of Lushai Hills and Aizawl was declared as its headquarters.

Culture of the State


Mizoram is rich in its cultural assets quite displayed in traditional lifestyle, heritage of the dwellers and folk songs, music and dance. Mizo, the collective form of Mizoram stand for the people of hill. This is the reason that the tribal community of the state say they belong to the highland.

The people of Mizoram boast of their cultural legacy and did everything possible to keep it intact in spite of experiencing several foreign intrusions into the state. Though, the state is still untouched with development however the government is taking all measures to bring them into a part of Young Mizo Association (YMA). The prime motive behind designing YMA is related to the objective to which the state is taking initiative to impart a distinct colour of the conventional values of society and customs among the people of the state.

Places to See


The Blue Mountain
This is the highest mountain of the state encompassed with bamboo groves. This is located at Chhimtuipui district, a place from which you can see the river of Koldyne near to the border of India with Myanmar. The place will give you spectacular view of sightseeing attractions located at high hills and in the twisty undulated valleys. Forested with thick jungle which features rare species of fauna and flora, the place is quite a good one to make your vacations memorable. In addition, the Peak of Blue Mountain is said to be the abode of God at one of its peaks.

Kungawrhi Puk
This is a cave situated of Aizwal district located on a hill between Farkawn and Vaphai villages. The place is associated with an interesting tale to which a girl kidnapped by some devils was later confined to this secluded cave when she was on her way to her hubby’s village. The girl named Kungawrhi was rescued by her husband by killing the devils.

Lamsial Puk
The site is famous as being the witness ground of a fierce fight fought between two villages causing many tolls. The deceased bodies of the people were later moved into the cave.

Sibuta Lung
The site was constructed by tribal chief named Sibuta many years ago. And after his death the site became his monument telling the story of love laced with love and lust. It is said that the chief Sibuta fell in a madly love with a girl. But his love was declined by the girl that consequently infuriated the chief. Later, he decided to raise such a monument for himself so that he could showcase his deep rooted love for the girl. A huge blood stained rock of three people who were said to have killed by Sibuta was taken to Tlawng River. Before constructing the monument, he buried alive a girl in the deep dug pit of the monument.

Buddha’s Image
The Buddha’s image flanked by two other girls was discovered at a place near to Mualcheng Village. Another stone slab was also discovered at the same site which bore the footprint of human. You can see the Buddha’s image which is quite famous for being presentation of truest beauty of the then artistic culture.
