KUMARAKOM


Kumarakom is an enchanting peninsula located at 14 km from Kottayam, Kerala. Kumarakom is a small town located on the bank of Vembanad Lake. Kuttanad is known as the most awesome backwater region of the town. Climate


The climate of Kumarakom is moderate as it is very close to sea. The region experiences heavy downpour during June-August owing to the southwest monsoon. From December to the end of February, the region is under winter. The temperature of the town during summer is between 35°C maximum and in winter it is 25°C. The town has record of average rainfall of 310 cm annually.

Water Bird Sanctuary
The Water Bird Sanctuary is located on the bank of Vembanad Lake. Spread over 14 acres of area, the park is home of varieties of wildlife such as water ducks, waterfowl, cuckoos, wild ducks etc. A tour to the park lets you see migrated birds like Siberian stork playing in groups. A little further from the park you will see backwater town of Kottayam. You can enjoy boar riding here.
