KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK

The Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a world-famous park for its one-horn rhino or unicorn. Having already celebrated the 100 years of survival of this celebrity animal in Assam, the park is undoubtedly the most popular and prized tourist attractions in Assam. Aptly located on the banks of the Brahmaputra, the park is cutely encircled with dense tropical forests, marshes and tall elephant grass. The park was declared a reserve forest in 1908; it was offered the status of a wildlife sanctuary in 1940; in 1974, it was declared a national park and in 1985, the Park was declared a UNESCO Heritage Site. At present, the park is home to largest population of rhinoceros in India.

Besides the large number of one-horned rhino, a tour to the park gives opportunity to see other animals like elephants, wild boar, pythons, Indian bison, leopard, sloth beers, capped langurs, hog deer and tigers. The park is considered an ideal place for bird watching in Assam. There are a number of birds that you can see at the Kaziranga National Park, like Pallas's fishing eagle, white tailed eagle, oriental honey buzzard, brahminy kite, black-shouldered kite and grey-headed fishing eagle. During winter, migratory birds also come here for their habitat.

Elephant Safari
With vast open country, the park is extremely accessible and offers an amazing wildlife experience.
