KARNATAKA


The land of Karnataka situated at the western edge of the Deccan upland is also geographically surrounded with states like Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. There is the Arabian Sea from the western side of the state. The land stretched in around 192,000 km² has its population over five crore. The official language of the state is Kannada. The state is rich with rivers like Cauvery, the Krishna and the Godavari which flow beside the state from their respective origins. The place is said to be the ultimate resource of natural and scenic enchantment as well as rich and healthy cultural heritage and legacy. The state has also experienced from the past years tremendous technological advancements in information technology.

The tourists from different corner of India come to visit the place to savour the mesmerising beauty of the state present in lovely Ghats, Jog waterfalls, forested lands and wildlife sanctuary situated in the places named Bandipur and Nagarhole. More so, one knows the state owing to its rich and exuberant culture and tradition present all over the state. So to say, the presence of architectural beautiful of temples encompassed with natural scenes and exciting fairs and festivals of the state make the land as one of the most sought after tourists destination of India.

History of the State


The history of Karnataka takes one to the ancient time of pre-historical era. It is also said that the state finds its descriptions in the epic Ramayana. More so, the state also bears to the period when the western countries are supposed to come in India for the purpose of business. The state firstly experienced the rule of Maurya and after them the power switched to Satavahanas who ruled over the state for almost 300 years. He was later replaced by the king Kadambas and the following rulers like Pallavas, the Gangadikaras, the Kalacharis, the Hoysalas, the Yadavas, the Chalukyas of Badami, the Rashtrakutas, and the Kakaiyas….

During the advent of British the state experienced the political scenario and remained under the rule of British as a princely state till the independence of India. And it was in the year 1973 when the state was declared as an absolute free state of the Indian union.

Culture of the State


The cultural history of the state dates back to the Roman Empire which is evident in the numbers of folk cultures present in the state. In the ancient time, the state maintained trade dealings with regions like Persia, China, Turkey and Arabia and with their interactions with one another, the state also experienced wide range of cultural civilisations. The state offers its cultural legacies in the forms of different dance, music, religions and dramas. Ritualistic dances like Dollu Kunitha, Puja Kunitha, Devare Thatte Kunitha, Yellammana and kunitha are performed by the skilled dancers during special occasions. Most of the dance in the state has the name of deities after them

Sightseeing Attractions


Bangalore
This capital city of Karnataka, often known as Garden City offers the tourist blends of enchanting attractions present in its various sightseeing attractions. Coined as the Silicon Valley of India, the city is one of the favourite tourist spots for enjoying celebrations of various occasions at Cubbon Park. Another sightseeing attraction of the city are Lal Bagh which houses several plants of foreign lands.

Mysore
Mysore was the former capital of Karnataka with its nick name city of palaces. The site is famous for housing excellent palaces of outstanding built by the Wodeyar Dynasty. The palace of the Mysore looks stunning during night festivals when the entire space of the palace is lit up with beautiful bulbs. More so, you will also know abut the Mysore palace that it holds historical essence of Dravidian, Oriental and Roman architectural styles.

Chikmagalur
This is a place located at the distance of 240 kms from capital city Bangalore in the direction of north-east zone. The nearest landmark of the place is Baba-Budan from south fertile valley. The town features lush coffee growing hills and the Malnad which is famous for rich green valleys offering excellent natural scene to the tourists.

Chitradurga
This is the place which is geographically bordered with Andhra Pradesh from the east. The site once the erstwhile capital of Paleyagars, holds great historical as well as mythological view. A hill near to the city is encompassed with seven ramparts and seven temples of lord Gopalaswamy, Sampige Siddeswara and goddess Ucchangama. This is the very place that finds its description in the epic Ramayana as a bird named Jatayu who fell here wounded in a result of his fight with Ravana to save Sita from his clutches. The place also finds its detail in the Mahabharata to which it is said that Bhima, one of the brothers of five Pandavas, had killed the giant Hidimbasura
