JODHPUR


Jodhpur is one of the second largest cities of Rajasthan. The city is a honey-pot for various tourists around the world. The city presents awesome ranges of sightseeing attractions blended with glorious past. A tour to the city let the tourists watch splendid forts and palaces which are the pearls of the city. This beautiful city is situated at the corner of Thar Desert with neighbourhood Jaisalmer from the west, and from the south there are Barmar, Jalor and Pali. Jodhpur has typically a hot and dry climate. The best time to visit this city is between November and March. Mehrangarh Fort
Nestled amid heart of the city, Mehrangarh fort was built by the king Man Singh. This is one of the greatest must sees attraction of Jodhpur city. Strategically located with wall-mounted cannons, the fort spreads over the area of 5 kms at an altitude of around 125 mtrs. A trip to the fort will let the tourists see the artillery system of the Rajput warriors. You can also have a bird’s eye view of he whole city from the fort.

Umaid Bhawan
This 20th-century year’s old palace was built with a view to giving employment to the famine-torn population of Jodhpur. The palace took 16 years of considerable time to finish. This majestic building made of sandstone presently serves as the residence of the ancient rulers with some portions of it has been converted into hotels for tourists’ accommodation. The rest portions of the palace function as museum.

Jaswant Thade
Jaswant Thade is a shrine which represents ancient glory of Rajput. It was built in the memory of King Jaswant II in 1899. According to the folklore the king Jaswant succumbed to injury at this place followed by a fierce fight against Mughal king Jahangir.

Mandar Garden
This was an ashram dedicated to Saint Manu. Ajit pole is a gate of this garden. The whole surrounding of the garden is decked with paintings of God and Goddesses from Indian mythology.

In addition, a tour to Jodhpur will let the tourists watch a wide range of handicrafts in Giridkot and Sardar Market located amid the heart of the city. At 4 miles away from the city the tourists can see Balsamand Lake and Garden, an idea place for picnics freaks and excursions.

At 9 km away from the city lies Mahamandir temple housing amazing collection of artworks and architectures. It was built in 1812 and has numbers of 84 carved pillars.
