JAISALMER
The moment you visit Jaisalmer, also known as “Golden City” you will be awestruck to see the beautiful sight of the sandcastle-like fortress. This really infuses the tourists with certain feeling of a desert dream that imprints strong impressions on their minds for years. The fort of Jaisalmer proudly comprises less than hundred massive bastions engulfing all the narrow alleyways of the fort. The fort comprises famous hotels, beautifully designed temples, splendid palace, shops selling Rajasthani fabrics and some local Indian restaurants. All of them were built in using golden sandstone.
The city of Jaisalmer is situated in a remote location and is surrounded by the infertile Thar Desert. A tour to the city will let you discover that the major portions of the city have been developed by its ancient kings and well-to-do merchants. You will wonder to know that most of the past structures built by the then Maharajas of the city has yet not lost their past charm. The Jaisalmer Tourist Reception Centre located at a close step to the fort always extends its help to the tourists for information related to tourism.
