GUJRAT
The state of Gujarat located at the western coast of India is quite a charming place visited by almost thousands of tourists across the nation. Claimed to be one of the wealthiest sates of India due to abundance of textiles and electronic industries; Gujarat contributes almost 20 percent of total industrial output of the nation. Geographically the land is bordered with Rajasthan state from north-east zone, from the east is Madhya Pradesh, the neighbouring country Pakistan is to the north east zone and state like Maharashtra and India’s Union Territories are from the south zone of the state.
The state is quite identified as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, a world renowned figure whose invaluable contribution to the freedom of India still holds with great dignity in the entire part of nation. The state is not quite handsome with striking tourists attractions however the land will attract you with its masonry work, luscious cuisine, and handiworks like mirror work and silver jewellery.
History
The sate is said to have been originated with the name Gujjaratta, denoting sense of land of the Gujjars. But historically the state finds its description from age old Indus Valley and Harappan centres unearthed in the states like Lakhabaval, Rangpur, Lothal Dholavira, Rozdi Amri. Later, Yadava tribe led by the Lord Krishna is said to have pushed the state onto its most glorious days.
The state experienced the touch of Ashoka, the great Maurayan King who extended his territory to the state. Later the state came under the rule of succeeding kings of similar dynasty for many years. It was in 12th century AD when the state came under the rule of Allauddin Khilji after defeating Waghela king and of Gujarat. This ensued the establishment of Muslim era in the state until the power switched to the Marathas and ultimately to the British empire in early 19th century.
Culture
Since the time immemorial, the western part of India has been honey pot for various interactions among ethnic and linguistic forces and the state of Gujarat has the tremendous impact of those interactions. This consequently resulted, the synthesis of several races and cultures in the state. In addition, the state also experienced incoming of several outsiders through difference channels of transportation. For instance, the Persian came here through roadways while Arabs and Africans came through waterways; all came here for their respective purposes like trades, shelter or conquering the state. .
Sightseeing Highlights
Ahmedabad
The city named after its former ruler Ahmed Shah offers quite blends of monuments of 15th century. Coined as the “Manchester of the East” the city holds some interesting blends of sightseeing attractions for the tourists including Sabarmati Ashram, a place from where Mahatma Gandhi initiated his famous Dandi March.
Somnath Temple
The presence of twelve Jyotir lingas of Lord Shiva has famed the site for those bearing religious faith on deity. Come here and take the blessing of Lord Shiva that is enshrined in the temple.
Champaner
The site was once the capital city of Sultan Mahmud Beghara and now is located on the foothills of Pavagadh. The site catches the attention of tourists due to its having Jama Mosque.
Sasangir
The site is quite famous due to its having plenty of wildlife offering a real wildly experience to the tourists. Wildlife like lions Indian deer, sambhar, nilgai, chinkara hiran and many more can be spotted here.
Dwarka
Famous for being the abode of Lord Krishna, this holy town is located at the confluence of Gomati River.
In addition to the above mentioned temples, the tourist can also visit other attractions like Bhuj, Patan and some festivals of the sate like Navaratri, Janmashtami, international kite festival and many more.
