History
Once in around 3rd century BC, the sate of Goa was a part of the Mauryan Empire whose power was snatched by Satvahanas and Badami who ruled over the city for years. As the history repeats itself, the state once again came under the control of Muslim that after ruling for a short period of time was defeated and driven away by Vijayanagar Empire. Then, ultimately the sate came under the rule of Portuguese followed by changes of power by different invaders. The Portuguese established their rule over the state in 1510 and carried on until 1961. This is the reason that most of the parts of Goa still bear tradition and cultural impact left by the Portuguese.
Culture
The state is truly an integrated form of eastern and western traditions and cultures. The state has registered a significant cultural evolution on the world stage evident in its vibrant and psychedelic form of music.
