GANGTOK


Gangtok is a capital city of state Sikkim. Owing to the presence of awesome tourists’ attractions, Gangtok has emerged as one of the most sought after tourists destinations in the country. Tourists Attractions


Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is one of the most visited sites of Gangtok. The institute was constructed in 1958 and is now used as a research centre for studying Mahayana Buddhism and Tibetan culture. The institute also functions as a museum of traditional and old artefacts and lots of Buddhist religious books are available in the institute. The Tsuk-La-Khang or Royal Chapel is a sacred place for worship. It is also an assembly of Buddhists and houses various collection of religious remnants.

Enchey Gompa, another famous monastery is one of the most famous tourists’ attractions of the city and can be visited on the ewe of festival season held from January to February. A tour to Gangtok takes you Orchid Sanctuary located in proximity with Namgyhal Institute. The sanctuary proudly houses almost 500 varieties of orchids. Orchidarium, a larger orchid sanctuary is located off the main road to Rangno. You can also see a Flower Exhibition Centre and other series of delights here.

Other Sightseeing Highlights


Rumtek Gompa, a 24 km away tourist site from Gangtok is a rich monastery and is the residence of the head of the Kagyupa Tibetan Buddhism. This is one of the most famous tourists sites hummed with their activities throughout the year. Tsongo or Changu Lake located at 35 km away from the northeast of Gangtok is also a special charm for tourists’ perspective.
