Bundi is a small sleepy town which is less explored compared to other historical wonders of the state of Rajastahn. This less ventured magnificence of Rajasthan is prosperous with historical wealth and sheltered by the Aravali hills on the three sides. The place is truly a historical wonder and a trip to Bundi easily takes travellers to striking medieval forts, palaces and temples with beautiful stone idols and chhatris (Cenotaphs) with carved pillars. A pleasing lake in the heart of the town further adds to the appeal of this serene and fascinating city. Located 36 km from Kota, the palaces and forts of Bundi ensure than tourists get to see the excellent examples of Rajput architecture in its zenith.

Climate


Mandawa is a semi desert region with the temperatures ranging from 40º C in the day time to 27º C at night in the summer season. In winters, the temperature ranges from 35º C degrees during the day to 4º C at night.

Tourist Attractions in Bundi


Bundi Palace
The royal Bundi Palace, now a museum, gives the sight of some of the elegant murals which adorn the walls of the palace.

Taragarh Fort
Built in 1354, the Taragarh Fort, also identified as the Star Fort, is a wonderful spot in the town.

Sar Bagh
Sar Bagh owns 66 royal cenotaphs worth visiting.

Step wells (Bawari)
Step wells are other well-known highlights of Bundi which serve as water reservoirs in the months of summers. There were over 50 wells but many of them had to suffer the ravages of the time.

Chhatar Mahal
Chhatar Mahal has been decorated with stunning wall paintings of the famous Bundi School.

Sukh Mahal
Zanana Mahal, Badal Mahal and Sukh Mahal are some of other popular strutures in the town of Bundi. The Sukh Mahal is a wonderful summer palace which was built during the reign of Rao Raja Vishnu Singh.

Phool Sagar
The Phool Sagar palace is a brilliant and well-planned construction worth a visit.
