BODHGAYA
BODHGAYA is located in the state of Bihar and is in the proximity of 13 kms from the holy city Gaya. The place holds great veneration for Buddhists as this is the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment under a pepal tree some 2500 years ago. The term Bodhgaya means the “Place of Enlightenment”. Presently, the city is visited by lots of devotees of Buddhism including the Dalai Lama who is a frequent visitor of the place. The presence of temples and Buddhist monasteries are common visual occurrence here. During your tour to Bodhgaya you should see Mahabodhi temple, positioned near to the Bodhi tree where Lord Buddha attained “Nirvana”.
The legend has it that once a prince of Kapilvastu kingdom named Siddhartha left his kingdom in quest for serenity. He made rigorous excursions across different places to find out the peace but failed. It was then the place of Bodhgaya where he attained what he was looking for, the Nirvana. Since then, the Bodhgaya has become one of the most religious pilgrimages of Buddhists.

Prime Attractions Highlights
Maha Bodhi Temple
This is one of the most reverend places of Buddhist. It is located near the peepal tree where Lord Buddha attained his ultimate knowledge almost 2500 years ago. The temple was erected on a high square platform. It houses century’s old statue of Lord Buddha as well as the Shivalinga of lord Shiva.
Bodhi Tree
Bodhi tree is said to be the descendent of the actual tree under which lord Buddha attained his Nirvana. With height of 80 feet the tree is said to be 120 years old.
Parasnath Hill
The Parasnath hill is located at 40 kms away from Bodhgaya. You will see series of antiquated rock-cut Buddhist caves. The cave houses numerous decorated temples. Parasnath is the most reverend place for Buddhist as well as believer in Jain religions.
Gaya
Gaya is at the distance of 16 kms from Bodhgaya. According to mythology, the dead body of a person if cremated here leads to the door of salvation. Such is the miracle of the place. The Vishupad Temple located on the bank of Falgu River is visited by lots of devotees.
