Ajmer is a famous pilgrim place in the historical state of Rajasthan. The Dargah or tomb of the popular 13th-century, Sufi Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti is a world renowned place to visit in Ajmer. Millions of pilgrims from all parts of the globe come here to attend the death anniversary of the great saint every year. A god number of monuments belonging to the Mughal era also attract tourists to Ajmer. Apart from these, the city is also recognized for its traditional handicrafts. Situated in the state of Rajasthan, in the northwestern part of India, Ajmer lies 130 km southwest of Jaipur.

Climate


The climate of Ajmer is hot. The maximum temperature can go up to 45°C in summers (April-June). Winters are cool (November-February).

The best time to visit Ajmer is in winters (November-February). More so, Ajmer is frequented intensely in the seventh month of the lunar calendar every year when the annual Urs festival is held to observe the death of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin

Major Tourist Attractions


Adhai-din ka Jhonpra
Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhonpra, a noteworthy structure of Indo-Islamic architecture, is named for having been built in two and a half days flat. It is built on pillars and amazingly no two pillars are alike.

Ana Sagar Lake
Built by Anaji during 1135-1150 AD, this lake is located towards the north of Ajmer city and a place worth a visit.

Akbar’s Fort
Akbar Fort had once served as the royal residence of Emperor Akbar and attracts tourists for its rich repository of exquisite sculptures.

Baghera (107km from Ajmer)
Locate in the Kekri subdivision of Ajmer district and at about 107 kms south east of Ajmer, Baghera is a popular village famous for treasure trove of archaeological and antiquarian relics.

Edward Memorial Hall
Edward Memorial hall is a true testimony to Ajmer’s colonial past.

Foy Saggar
Foy Saggar is a striking artificial lake named after the engineer who created it under a famine relief project.

Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti s Dargah
Rajasthan is renowned for Dargah's and the Dargah is the tomb of a Sufi saint, Khwaja Muin-uddin Chisti, popularly known as “Khwaja Gharib Nawaaz” (the Benefactor of the Poor). The saint is considered as one of the most stupendous figures in the history of Islamic mysticism. The annual Urs at Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is organised on a grand scale and attracts pilgrims from all over the world. More so, pilgrims come here in great numbers irrespective of their caste and religion.

Besides them, Ajmer has a good number of other tourist attractions. Kishangarh,a small town known for the popular Bani Thani paintings and for its marble products. Kishangarh; Makrana, Mayo College, Nasiyan Temple, Pushkar, Shah Jahan’s mosque and Sola Khamba are some other ‘’’popular attraction in and around Ajmer.
